The Ploud default calendar displays all Events from the entire site on a visual calendar. However, you may want to create separate calendars for specific events or event categories. Ploud6 now allows you to do this using Event Collections. Here's how:
Understanding Event Collections
Event Collections enable you to create custom calendars that display only specific events. For example, you can create:
- A calendar showing only community events
- A calendar for events related to a particular club using library facilities
How It Works
The process involves three main steps:
- Tagging events
- Creating an Event Collection based on those tags
- Displaying the collection as a calendar
Step-by-Step Guide
- Create a recurring Event, such as a club meeting that occurs every month. Under the Categorization tab, add a tag for the event (in this example, we use the tag 'Club').
- Now create a Collection that looks for those specific events. The Collection below searches for Events with the tag Club. You are, in essence, creating a query of the content database to retrieve content based on the search criteria you define. Once you have your criteria defined, save the Collection.
- Now, while navigating to the collection you just created, select Display -> Calendar view from the Site Toolbar menu.
The collection will display as a calendar showing only those events you have defined in the collection.
