Adding the MeL Search Widget to a Portlet (Ploud6)

Contained in this document are instructions for adding the MEL Search Widget to a portal. The portlet code is attached at the bottom of this document MelSearchWidget.txt

1. Download and open the MeLCAT_Widget.txt file attached to this FAQ and select the text (Ctrl-A) and then copy it using (Ctrl-C).
   
   
2. Navigate to the page where you want to place the MeLCAT widget and click on the Manage Portletsbutton at the end of the center content area:

   
   

3. Select where you to have the portlet display on your page
   

4. In the Manage Portlets Area, we need to create a Static Portlet by selecting the Static text portlet from the Add portlet... menu.

   
   
   

5. Within the Add static text portlet interface in the Text field, select Tools -> Source Code and Paste the code you copied earlier into that field.
   

   
   

6. Click on Omit portlet border to remove any unnecessary padding around the widget.

7. Click Save to save your changes and return to the page where you added your portlet. You should see something like the portlet below:
