Adding Collection Portlets

A Collection portlet is a box that displays a dynamic list of content items generated according to specified criteria. Collection portlets must be based on an existing Collection, which defines the criteria to be used. Click here for more information about creating Collections.

  1. On the page you wish to add the portlet, click Manage portlets in the area to which you wish to add the portlet.

  2. On the same side you will see a number of gray boxes with the names of portlets that have already been created.

  3. Above the portlets, click Add portlet….

  4. Scroll down and select Collection portlet.

  5. The Portlet header will be the title under which the Collection appears on the page.

  6. Under Target Collection, check to see if the collection you wish to associate is already listed in search results. If you do not see it listed, type one or two words from the title and click Search. After you see your collection appear underneath as a search result, click the circle beside it and press the Update button.

  7. Underneath Limit you can enter in the maximum number of items displayed in the portlet.

  8. Click the box next to Select random items if you want items to be selected randomly from the collection, rather than in its sort order.

  9. Click the box next to Show more… link if you want a “more…” link to appear at the footer of the portlet that will allow users to select and see older items.

  10. Click the box next to Show dates if you would like to show the effective dates at the bottom of an item.

  11. Once you have entered the required information, click Save.
